How do I pick the best mattress for me?

The right mattress depends on your body, sleep position, and what you need most from a night's sleep. When should I replace my mattress?

Most mattresses are best replaced every 7 to 10 years, though this varies with use and mattress quality. If you're waking up with aches, noticing sagging, or simply not sleeping as well as you used to, it may be time for a new one. Our Habitat and Posture Classic mattress ranges come with a 5 year warranty vs a 10 year warranty for more advanced ranges, so you can expect to replace them earlier than our other mattress models.
Why do I need to rotate my mattress?

Rotating your mattress regularly helps it wear evenly, supporting the shape and lifespan of the comfort layers and support system. Check the care guidance for your specific model, as rotation needs can vary by design.
Should I get a mattress protector?

Absolutely! We highly recommend investing in a high quality breathable and waterproof mattress protector. This will protect your mattress from spills, wear and tear, and also create a barrier against allergens accumulating in your mattress. This will ensure your mattress stays in great condition for as long as possible, and protect your warranty to boot.
What size mattress should I buy?

Mattress size depends on your room, your sleep setup, and who's sharing the bed. Tattersfield mattresses are available across a full range of sizes, from Single through to Californian King, so you can find the right fit for your space. As a rule of thumb, choose a Single for younger kids, and a Long or King Single for tweens and young teens. For older teens and single adult sleepers, a Double is a good choice. Queen is the smallest size you should buy for two adults sharing, although you'll likely find a King is more comfortable if this is your sleep situation. Super and California King mattresses are ideal if you have the space, or if you wind up with the whole family in your bed over the course of the night!
Do mattresses have to be firm to be supportive?

Mattress feel is determined by the comfort layers nearest your body. No one feel is inherently better than the others: it depends on your personal preference, body type, and sleep position. Support comes from the system underneath the comfort layers, so a softer or firmer mattress within the same range will still offer the same level of support. If you are looking for a mattress with strong support, consider our Supportapaedic and Signature ranges, which both feature PowerCoil progressive support springs: either zoned in combination with Classic Pocket Springs in our Supportapaedic range, or enhanced with an additional layer of mini pockets in the Signature.
